About Grow Wild

Healing the world starts with healing our soils

Grow Wild exists to turn ordinary properties into regenerative landscapes — producing nutrient-dense food, building healthy soil, supporting biodiversity, and nourishing mind, body, and soul. We follow nature rather than fight it.

The founder

Brian Barnicle

Brian brings over two decades of hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, ecological design, and community education — from Southern California to Northern Oregon to the Connecticut soil he works today.

Seven years of commercial farming — from intensive small-scale operations to 20-acre projects — built deep expertise in regenerative growing, soil health management, and Korean Natural Farming. Three years living off-grid meant mastering the fundamentals most designers only read about: rainwater harvesting, well and irrigation systems, building with locally sourced materials, animal husbandry, season extension, and food preservation.

He has designed and installed gardens under master gardener mentorship and worked alongside horticulturists on large-scale installations at wineries and private residences — developing the deep knowledge of plant communities and ecological relationships that shapes every Grow Wild design.

As a father — and partner to a registered dietitian — Brian's commitment to nutrient-dense food and healthy landscapes isn't a marketing angle. It's how his own family eats and lives.

Our approach

It starts below ground

Every landscape has the potential to become a thriving ecosystem. Our process starts with comprehensive soil testing, then builds a customized plan to balance soil minerals, build organic matter and soil life, integrate productive perennial systems, and support local biodiversity — all while creating a beautiful, low-maintenance landscape you'll actually use.

What sets us apart is the focus on soil fundamentals. Get the soil right and everything above it gets easier: plants establish faster, resist pests naturally, need less water, and improve every year.
